A little late with my post but here's what I did for Christmas.
First I did a little last minute shopping on Christmas Eve. Went to three places, got everything I needed. After a meal at Wendy's, I gassed up the car and went home. I spent a good part of the rest of the day wrapping presents.
Christmas morning I packed the car and left for my sister's house. The Bond family recently moved to White Rock (which I keep calling White Castle by mistake) located not far from Los Alamos (only a ten minute commute to work) but more than twice as far from Albuquerque as their old location (south of Santa Fe). Thankfully it only took 30 minutes longer to their new location. That's mostly because the new route is mostly freeway and the old route required many slowdowns to pass through various towns (I practically come to a complete stop each time I pass through Madrid, NM).
I arrived a few minutes early (about 1 PM) and quickly unloaded the car. Here is the Christmas room with some of my presents in view:

As you can see, both Christopher and Samuel already opened most of the gifts earlier in the morning.
Soon after my arrival I got a tour of the new house and we all sat down for a nice Christmas dinner. It was very good and I enjoyed the food immensely. The nephews ate their food quickly as they were anxious to open all the new gifts that my parents and I brought in. After dinner it was gift unwrapping time and chaos ensued. Samuel got lots of cars and trucks and Christopher got lots of flying toys (Air hog heli, Boomerang, flying plane, etc).
Here's a brief list of some of the things I got:
DVDs:
- Superman II - The Donner Cut - Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers - Men in Black - Deluxe Edition - Dead Like Me - Season 2
CDs:
- December by the Moody Blues - Return to the Centre of the Earth by Rick Wakeman - Digital Moonscapes by Wendy Carlos - 4400 Soundtrack
Books:
- Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way - Ella Enchanted
After the gifts were unwrapped we spent some time playing with the toys. Samuel got two radio controlled spiders and we spent time racing the spiders against each other.
I got Christopher a toy helicopter (but not an Air Hog) and he wanted to go to the park to fly it. However, it was getting dark and I was getting ready to go (my parents had already left) and we weren't going to fly them that night. Christopher asked me to stay overnight so we could fly the helicopters in the morning. I accepted the invitation and spent the night at the Bonds. For the rest of the evening I raced spiders, watched the Pirates of the Caribbean movie on TV and worked on a jigsaw puzzle with Samuel. When the movie was over the kids went to bed. I stayed up late to finish the puzzle. I figured that I would surprise Samuel with it and he'd be pleased. Turns out he was a little disappointed: he wanted to help finish the puzzle. :(
The next morning we went to overlook park. Here's Samuel at the soccer field in the park:

Nice view!
Christopher is enjoying the toy helicopter I gave him:

Here's his dad, Alan, helping Christopher to reload the helicopter:

Christopher also tried out a boomerang and an Air Hogs airplane while we were at the park. The airplane flew pretty far once Christopher figured out the controls but the batteries wore out after only ten minutes and we had to recharge them frequently (just like the Air Hog helicopters). Samuel spent most of his time playing with the Transformer toys he got.
After the kids got tired of the flying toys, we checked out the rest of the park. The overlook park has - surprise, surprise - an overlook of the Rio Grande river valley:

Here's Evelyn, my sister:

The view from the overlook is really cool:

The last picture looks like a shot from an old Western like Red River or The Searchers. Pretty cool. I need to go up there some day just to spend the day hiking the river valley. There are two trails that start from the park (red and blue) and I'd like to try at least one of the trails.
Afterwards I had a brief lunch with the Bonds (turkey sammichs - YUM!) and then I headed home. After a brief visit at my fathers office (he picked up my newspaper for me), I drove straight to Costco to buy the DVD's I didn't get for Christmas (only because I forgot to put them on my wish list). Here are the DVDs I got me: Spiderman 3,Shrek 3 and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I'm all about the sequels baby!
I didn't get home until late in the afternoon and so I spent the rest the evening at home watching some movies, eating dinner and surfing the web. The next next morning I woke up and discovered this:

Awww CRAP!!!!!
To be continued...

I eagerly await the results of Mr. Flibble's DNA paternity test!
In the meantime, you may need to help pre-digest some food for the twins there. Yum!
One of the "Twins" is Mr. Flibble. The question is, which one is Mr. Flibble?
Oh, I thought we had Flibblets here. Or Flibblettes.
Mr. Flibble - the consummate bachelor - having babies? Pshaw!! Methinks you got babies on the brain. Everywhere you look, babies! Babies in the hallway, babies on the street. Babies selling movie tickets. Babies everywhere! Now why is that? :D
His cousin flew in for the holidays, and boy are his arms tired?
I haven't even begun drinking yet and I'm already seeing double!
My thoughts exactly when I saw them Thursday morning. | |
